Where and what to see in Bodrum on the Aegean Coast?
Bodrum is a seaside resort that is certainly the most beautiful seaside resort in Turkey. It was even one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World because it was here that the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus stood. The foundation of this can still be found. Besides the historical significance of the city, it is also just a very nice seaside resort. It has a beautiful bay and the center has largely retained its authenticity. You walk through narrow streets with white houses and at the harbor, you will find an old castle, which is completely worth a visit. The island used to belong to Greece and remains of it can still be seen, such as on Göktepe hill, where there is a Greek theater that is still in use. A completely different attraction is the port of Bodrum or Yalikavak, and you will no doubt think of Saint Tropez or Monaco, thanks to all the luxury yachts moored here.
Where and what to see in Antalya on the Turkish Riviera?
Antalya is the largest and one of the most beautiful seaside resorts and has beautiful historical sites and nature. In the historic district of Kaleiçi, there are a lot of cultures to sniff. You stroll through the narrow streets past old Ottoman houses, mosques, and bazaars. The streets can be very steep because the neighborhood is built on a cliff, which provides a beautiful view over the old harbor. You will discover historic sights, such as Hadrian’s white marble Gate with its three triumphal arches, the Hidirlik Tower, and the landmark of the city, the Yivli Minare Mosque. Outside Antalya, you will find green and water-rich natural beauty in the form of the Kurşunlu Waterfall Nature Park full of plants, lakes, and of course waterfalls. A little further afield is the Köprülü Canyon National Park: an impressive nature park full of rugged cliffs and rivers. Ideal for rafting!
