What to expect during the 2-day Amazing boat visit to Gallipoli and Troy from Istanbul?
Day 1: Istanbul to Eceabat
We pick you up from your hotel or airport in Istanbul and start our tour. We drive in the direction of Eceabat a town and district of Çanakkale Province in the Marmara region of Turkey, located on the eastern shore of the Gelibolu Peninsula, on the Dardanelles Strait.
Eceabat is the nearest town to the World War I Gallipoli Campaign battlefields of 1915, cemeteries, and memorials to the more than 120,000 soldiers who fell from Turkey, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and New Zealand. The name Eceabat could be originated from the Arabic military word “Hijabat” which means the most forward command point on the battlefield. Once arrived we will have lunch in a local restaurant. After our lunch, we will start with a guided visit to Gallipoli, where we will visit: Brighton Beach, Beach Cemetery, ANZAC Cove, Ariburnu Cemetery, ANZAC Commemorative Site, Respect to Mehmetcik Statue, Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Johnston’s Jolly, (Turkish and Allied trenches and tunnels), Turkish 57th Infantry Regiment Cemetery, The Nek, Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial. After the tour, we bring you to your hotel in Canakkale.
Day 2: Troy
After breakfast, we make ready for the first visit of the day as we will start the guided visit to Troy where we will see The Trojan Horse, Sacrificial Altars, The 3700-year-old city walls, Houses of Troy I, 3000 B.C. – 2500 B.C, The Bouleuterion (Senate Building), The Odeon (Concert Hall), Remains of the various cities from Troy I through to Troy IX. After our Troy visit, we return back to Canakkale to take the ferry direction Eceabat. In Eceabat we will get our lunch and prepare for the visit to the Kabatepe Simulation Center for a 3D recreation of many of the historical events of the campaign. After that visit, we will take our boat to visit the landing beaches from the sea. You will have the unique opportunity to see Brighton Beach, Beach Cemetery, ANZAC Cove, Ariburnu Cemetery, and ANZAC Commemorative Site at North Beach from the sea, just as the soldiers of 1915 did. You will have the chance to snorkel over the wreck of the Milo, a steamer that was deliberately sunk in late 1915 to form a breakwater for Williams Pier. After the tour, we drive back direction of Istanbul and drop you off at your hotel.
